NOTE: In order to avoid big web page we have came out with these links.

This past weekend was a great fun weekend for our family and crew that went to Los Mochis, Sinaloa in the mainland. This a yearly event for our family and staff.  This tournament, the biggest national fishing event (most national teams participating), always is right throw my dad's birthday, this is the only time the guys go fishing, my father and brothers all together, during the season.

This year we had 7 boats going to fish this tournament, the total teams participating was 159, over 500 fisherman. Very proudly, two of our boats were awarded, and the 3 Hermanos with Ramon and Jesus took the main award, as they weighted in a nice 158 lbs striped marlin on the first day, which gave them the 1st day price of a brand new WV Bug. And on the 2nd day a nice check of over $5,000.00 dollars. The Vagabundo with captain Jose, were awarded for the biggest wahoo, about $500.00 dollars.

The celebration was quite long that night, but to make it short, we ended leaving to Buenavista until 10:00 am in the morning.  We had a lot of fun with the everyone. We all look forward for this trip, they are long hours of fishing, but the nice dinners and different scenario motivate everyone to fish hard.

Alison Boburg from Valley Center CA fishing with Jesus Araiza (right in the back posing for the picture). with a good ceviche size dorado. Our cooks say that a smaller dorado makes a better ceviche, and I think they are right. Mr. Bob Keller while fishing with Juan Garica on the Mosca, showing off his nice bull. Mr. Keller and Mr. Ulizzes have visited us for the past 5 years, all the way from Cleveland, OH
Mr. Lindner from Folsom CA, not only he caught this nice dorado, but he also released 3 striped marlin, talking about a good day of fishing.
Saurabh Naik showing his nice marlin on the beach, but not caught from the beach, well I was asked that question once in Chicago, just making sure. John Sturgis from North Port, FL with a nice dorado, plus he also released 2 striped marlin.
This week we had a great time with our friends from California Portland Cement company. They always request a special dinner during their stay, a steak night next to the bar. Long time friend of my dad and family, they have been coming since I have memory.
Mr. Paul and Mr. James Wilson here with the same Marlin, but don't let this miss-lead you, since this is the only one they weren't able to release of a total of 4 striped marlins.

Water Temperature:  Water temperature continues to have good temperature, getting close to the temperature where the big blues come into the Sea of Cortez, and of course looking for tuna.

Weather Temperature:   May is gone, and also several wear winds that we had  this  month. For the past two weeks the temperature is back to normal and you can feel the summer right around the corner. Great time to be down here, not to hot, it is never cold, and humidity is hand able.

Fishing Spots and Distance:

Off-shore fishing.- Even though fishing continues to be quite close, it is not the best, but you will have enough action to keep you awake. Very little boats are coming back empty, most of them come with something. There have been some boat in our fleet that have adventure out to the 88 and south of Los Frailes, but their luck has been comparable to those who staid close. Good size dorado, most of them loners. Tuna, some small one are starting to be caught, still some captains have seen purposes around. It has been more than a month that we have been waiting for them.

In-shore fishing.- It is getting better quality wise, good quality fish around, still very close from in front of the hotel all the way to Punta Arena.

Successful lures: Not a change yet, petrolero, mean joe green, purpuras (black and purple), bleedin mackarel, bleeding dorado.

Bait Used: Sardine, mullet, and small jacks, with enough for everyone.

Highlight of the Week: We are waiting for the good tuna to come, they'll soon come, they can't stay out that much.. Our captains are starting to get the big blue marlin lures out, more and more blues are being seen, together with sails. We are now starting to feel the summer coming.
