Water
Temperature: The
water temperature remains in the low 80's. We have not seen
much change over the past week or so. The water is
perfect with the temperature at what the captains call
"Big Blue Marlin Temps." The color is
perfect as well. Nice and blue.
Weather
Temperature: The
weather continues to be on the warm side with the day time
high's reaching the lower nineties. The nights are very
comfortable and the mornings have been absolutely beautiful.
Fishing Spots and Distance: The
spots and distance the boats are traveling have varied this
week. The captains have reported that depending upon what
you are looking for this will determine where and how far
you will want to go. The Tuna have been out at the 28
mile mark from the hotel and this equates to about 20 miles
off the light house. We have seen a fair number of
Marlin both stripe and blue fairly close to
shore ranging from about two to five miles out
and then again from about twelve to twenty miles out from
the Cabo Pulmo to Los Frilies area. The sail fish have
been in the same area at about the twenty five mile mark.
Off-shore fishing.-
The
off shore fishing this week has been steady with Marlin, Dorado
and Tuna all being caught. The Tuna have bee a little
tight lipped on a few occasions but if you are willing to
keep at it you may catch a great fish. We have a
report of a 130 lb. Yellow fin being caught today right
along with the littler guy's in the 10 - 20 lb. class. You
never know!!!! The Dorado fishing has concentrated
closer to shore in the area from La Ribera to the light
house. The captains are having success slow trolling
frozen ballyhoo just about two miles off shore. Most
of these fish have been good sized solo males with an
occasional female as well. Keep in mind you just may
hook a big blue this way so keep it in the
water.
In-shore
fishing.-
The inshore fishing this week took a back seat with the guests in
the hotel. Most of the guests were looking for the bigger
game fish. The people that did decide to give the inshore a
try were rewarded with good catches of snapper.
Successful
lures:
If you are looking for the Tuna try pink. If you are
looking for Marlin the colors of green and black along
with white and blue as well as yellow and red have been
reported as getting interest.
Bait
Used: The bait this week has been for the most
part Sardines. Frozen Ballyhoo also has been reported to be taking some
very large Dorado..
