Water
Temperature: The
water temperature has jumped a couple degrees this week with all
of the readings taken this week at the eighty four degree
mark. This slight increase should help keep the
fishing steady.
Weather
Temperature: The
weather temperature has also risen slightly this week. We
began the week with the first true rain we have seen this
year. The rain was a welcome from the heat that we were
experiencing. This rain caused some of the arroyo's to run
in the area bringing with it some structure that if given time
may hold dorado.
Fishing Spots and Distance: The
spots and distance the boats are traveling continues to be just about
what was reported last week. The captains have reported that depending upon what
you are looking for this will determine where and how far you will
want to go. The Tuna have been out at the 28 mile mark from the
hotel and this equates to about 20 miles off the light house. We
have seen a fair number of Marlin both stripe and blue fairly
close to shore ranging from about two to five miles out
and then again from about twelve to twenty miles out from the Cabo
Pulmo to Los Frilies area. The sail fish have been in the same
area at about the twenty five mile mark. In addition to this the
captain's have also reported some Sailfish and Marlin
activity in the region of Punta Pescedero. The report
is that the fish are holding from fifteen to about twenty
one miles off shore.
Off-shore fishing.-
The
off shore fishing this week continues with a Tuna bite that is off
La Ribera. This bite is off shore between one and
three miles. These fish are deep and have been taking
Sardina. Most of the captain's have reported that the
bite is best in the morning and using a line in the 20 lb.
class is getting more strikes. The Marlin continue to
be close to shore anywhere from two to eight miles off
shore. Most of the action has taken place on the areas
of the lighthouse to Cabo Pulmo and again off the shores
Punta Pescedero. The area in from of La Ribera has
seen a slight increase in action as well.
In-shore
fishing.-
The inshore fishing this week was slightly difficult with the rain
water we had earlier in the week. This should improve
rapidly as the water clears near the arroyo's.
Successful
lures:
If you are looking for the tuna try live bait and cedar
plugs. For dorado and marlin the report has bee lures consisting
of orange and yellow along with blue and white or green and
black. Pink and blue has also reported to be catching a few
fish.
Bait
Used: The bait this week has been for the most
part Sardines. Frozen Ballyhoo also has been reported to be taking some
very large dorado..
