Water
Temperature: Water
temperature continues to be in the eighties. We have had some
reports of water dropping slightly during the night time hours because of cooler
air temperatures but bouncing back thru out the day.
Weather
Temperature: We
continue to see lot's of sun during the day. We have seen the night time
temperatures dropping slightly making that early morning ride on the boat
slightly cool at times. Once the sun is up the weather has been
delightful!!
Fishing Spots and Distance:
The fishing spots and distance have varied slightly this week with the boats
fishing both to the north and south. The fishing to the
north has taken place off the Punta Pescadero area while the
fishing to the south has taken place off the Cabo Pulmo and Los
Frilies areas.
Off-shore fishing.-
Off
shore fishing continues to produce good numbers of Tuna,
Bonita , and Sailfish. The Marlin have tapered off
this week but a few are still being seen in the area.
The Tuna have been found both to the North, and to the
South, Southeast this week. The boats have been
fishing for these fish in and around the schools of dolphin
that are in the area. When the schools of dolphin are found
the Tuna have been cooperative.
In-shore
fishing.-
In shore fishing this past week has taken place just slightly
further out than what most would "call
inshore". The boats have been going out into the
water that is slightly deeper (about 200 feet) and jigging for
giant squid that have on average weighed about thirty five
pounds with some much larger being taken. After
this, the boats have been moving to spots thru out the region
and using the squid as bait to fish for some very nice sized
pargo and amber jacks along with other species. Some of
these fish have been very large. These fish are also
quite deep in some of these spots. As far as the water
that is "close to shore" it is still slightly
off color in some places but is getting better daily and
we have seen increased activity in these areas.
Successful
lures:
For artificial lures Sailfish have been interested in the colors of
yellow and orange, green and black and red and yellow. For
the Tuna live Sardines have been the favorite but if you would
like to use artificial lures we recommend hoochies in the colors
of pink and black or pink and blue. The color of lime and
blue have also been reported as working well.
Bait
Used: Bait conditions this week continue to
be excellent with
the choice of Caballitos, or Sardinia and a few mullet. The squid
is up to you to catch.
Highlight of
the Week: This week the highlight has been the
Tuna! The sight of them crashing the bait and turning
the blue water white during their feeding frenzies is something
to see. If you enjoy Tuna this upcoming week this is
the place to be!
