Water
Temperature: This
week the water temperature has dropped slightly back into the
low eighties. The water temperature is back to a
normal temperature for this time of year. If the water
remains in this range the fishing should remain constant.
Weather
Temperature: The
weather this past week has been warm. We have seen no rain
and have had clear skies with lots of sun. The
mornings are very nice with the afternoon heat being felt in
the late morning to early afternoon. We have had very
slight breezes in the afternoon that have been very pleasent.
Fishing Spots and Distance: The
spots and distance the boats are traveling remains in the areas of off
the lighthouse to the punta pescadero along with some boats
heading directly east from the hotel. The areas both
to the south and to the east have been productive.
Off-shore fishing.-
The
off shore fishing this week has seen lots of nice action. We
continue to see very good sailfish action along with nice
tuna action as well. The sailfish have been very nice
size with an average fish in the seventy five pound
range. We have seen a slight decrease in the marlin
this week due to the higher water temps. The tuna
continue to be in the punta pescadero area. These fish
have been any where form ten to eighty pounds. We
continue to see a small number of dorado with most of these
fish on the medium to larger side. We have also seen very
good skip jack and bonita fishing. These fish have
been mixed in with the tuna.
In-shore
fishing.-
Most of the boats this week fished off shore. We still
have some "green" water located close to shore in
the area in front of La Ribera. The water near the
light house is clear and should start to see more in shore
fishing this up coming week.
Successful
lures:
The lure colors this week that have worked well for the sail fish have
been the colors of pink and black along with the colors of black and
green and petrolero. For the tuna hoochies in pink along with cedar
plugs have worked well.
Bait
Used: The bait this week has remained sardina
and mackerel.
