September
2004
September brought us plenty of rain, but
thankfully no hurricanes showed up this year. The
hillsides and mountains have turned a lush shade
of green, and yellow and fuchsia flowers are
growing everywhere. Fall is always the prettiest
time of year here as the East Cape is transformed
into a tropical thorn forest. This past month the
weather began to cool off, with daytime
temperatures in the high 80s and low 90s. The
water remained crystal clear and in the mid-80s.
The fishing rocked. Anglers caught amazing numbers
of dorado and tuna, plus plenty of sailfish,
snapper, skipjacks and several blue and striped
marlin. According to Axel, this month reminded him
of when he was a kid and the hotel was closed for
the summer. They had the entire ocean to
themselves and an abundance of fish!
A large group visited us from Okuma Reels and we
also hosted a seminar for a group of American
dentists. A first-time, “We’ll be baaaack” group
of 12 out of California was headed up by Don
Martinez. They were here the 23rd to
the 27th and scored some great catches.

Esaul wants you to
know that from the 12th to 19th
of January he will be hosting a first-ever
combination Hunting/Fishing Tour. Sign up and
you’ll fish for 3 days and then head over to Los
Mochis on the mainland for another 3 days of duck
hunting.
