Water
Temperature:
The water
temperature has dropped into the high sixties and low seventies.
This is the average temperature for this time of year. We have seen it
rise and fall very slightly depending on the strength of the north wind we tend
to see this time of year.
Weather
Temperature: The
weather temperatures remain quite pleasant. The daytime highs
are in
the mid seventies. The hours after dark have been quite cool from the north
winds we are receiving during the afternoon. These winds have been dropping during the late evening and night time
hours. The early mornings have been very cool with a gradual and pleasant
warm up
during the mid morning hours. We have seen calm and quiet weather
along with cool temperatures during the early morning hours with the winds increasing from the north
starting around the eleven o'clock hour. These winds have varied
from slight to very strong.
Fishing Spots and Distance:
The fishing spots and distance have been mostly concentrated to the north of
the hotel. We have not seen much action the past couple of weeks
due to the north winds and the fact that most of our guests staying in the
hotel over the holidays were here to enjoy the holiday's and the ringing in of
the new year. For most of them relaxation took priority over
fishing.
Off-shore fishing.-
The
off-shore fishing continues to be concentrated in the area off of Punta
pescadero. We continue to see a few dorado hanging in this area. The
captains have reported a few marlin in the area as well.
In-shore
fishing.-
The inshore fishing has been productive in the mornings for sierra. The
area that has been most productive this past week has been the area in front of
la ribera. Other areas that have seen good action in the early mornings
for sierra have been off of Punta Arena and the beach right here in front
of the hotel.
Successful
lures:
For artificial lures the colors seem to be different every day.
Try the old stand by for dorado of blue and white . For the
sierra that have been in the area try something with silver. This time of year you never know so try any and all!!
Bait
Used: Bait conditions this week have been
moderate with some larger baits being available. As far as smaller
bait such as sardina they are not available.
