Summer has come at last! The kids are almost out
of school, the weather here on the East Cape is
hot and sunny, the water is clear and warm and the
fishing is awesome. This summer we have a huge
lineup of special events, tournaments and other
fun things happening at the resort. Bookings are
way up this year, a sign that all of you are
traveling again, and enjoying sharing time with us
at our very special Jewel of the East Cape. We
welcome you, as always, with open arms.
May’s fishing was spectacular, with an average
week netting over 200 tuna (mostly in the 35 to 40
pound range), 40 striped marlin, 25 to 30 dorado,
nearly 50 rooster fish, 35 to 40 snappers and a
myriad of other smaller fish. Around the pool and
on the beach, the weather has been so nice that no
one ever wants to go indoors to take a siesta!
Also, we had several special events and large
groups joining us, which enabled us to have
outdoor buffets nearly every night, and one one
occasion, a beach barbecue and bonfire.
Among the groups that visited us this years is The
Western Fishing Folly, organized by Natalie
Rucinski. it was a great party as we celebrated
their 20th year anniversary of being with us every
year. Natalie is daughter to Mr. Mike Rucinski,
who will always be among us.
And
there were the Guys from Portland Cement Company
who are also in their 23rd visit. This year was
very special, as Mr. Gordon Thurner was
celebrating his retirement from the company. It
was a very special and emotional farewell dinner.
And of course there were many good memories to be
tell.
All indications point toward this summer being a
memorable one. We have a July special for kids,
several great fishing tournaments and … BIG NEWS …
from August 3rd through 7th, we will be
hosting the 4th Annual East Cape Bisbee
Tournament! This is a first for us and we’re

riding around in a boat trailing lines behind you
