FISHING AND CONDITION REPORT

WEEK: October 2nd week

Mr. Gary and Sally Solie winners of this year Chuy's Catch and Release. Those who fished it deserve all to be winners as the conditions of this fishing day was not the best representation of Sea of CortÚs fishing. Wind, rain and high seas started since very early in the morning, and the wind kept on going most of the day. Mr. Gary and Sally took the first place with a Sail fish caught very early in the morning, and it came down to a tie breaker rule as team Amigos de Hawaii had the same points, but Mr. Gary was the first to report it hooked and released.  We were happy to have them as winner, but we were even happier to see Mrs. Sally in such great health and spirit.

Oct. 11th, Our good friend, Mr. Cal Preston from San Pedro, CA fished with his old time captain Juan Garcia on his new boat "Alegria" (a nice 29' twin engine Phoenix Cruiser). He came down to look for a blue and he found this nice 350 lbs. Pacific Blue Marlin. The brand new Penn International 50 TW that the Buena Vista fleet now have, helped  Mr. Preston fought for good two hours this nice blue, before the fish died and was needed to be handed line it up. Mr. Preston's blister showed that it is hard work of fighting a monster like this.

Don Charles from Whittier, CA fished with Ramon and Teodoro, on this day not only they cuaght this nice 60 lbs tuna, but they lost another bigger one very close to the boat after an hour and 45 minutes fight. Total for the day was a striped released, 5 dorados and 2 tunas, not a bad day.

Nate Little from Meza, AZ first time visiting the East Cape. He fished with Felipe and Reggie on the Yanet. He caught his first marlin, plus 2 dorados and one tuna on this day. He did mentioned that this will be his first and last billfish caught, but not fought.

Water Temperature: Our water got affected by the North wind we had early in the week, but not too much as the water right now from the Sea of Cortes is warm too.

Air Temperature: With Saturday through Wednesday wind the temperature was very comfortable, for those that stay back at the resort, after that the temperature went back up when we had summer like weather for the last day of the week.

Fishing Spots and Distance: Some boats went South and the best fishing seemed to be just outside the Cabo Pulmo Marine park, but those boats going North did quite well too.

Off-shore Fishing:  Tuna and dorado were ok on numbers per boat, but the wind did slow things down a little. Once the wind started to slow down the fishing was started getting better. Bill fishing continues to be steady, with the exceptions of the first three days of this week's fish report.

In-shore Fishing: The water got a little stir up again with this winds, but toward the end of the week, it started to get better.

Bait Used: No problem with bait lately, and we should continue the same way.

Highlight of the Week: Tuna up to 60 lbs, and some bigger lost, a few boats had some good ones and they fought them for a while, but since they were with smaller gear, they end up loosing them, but they are sure there.

See you next week!!!
