Water
Temperature: This
week's average was 77F, there is a big current of warm
water coming to the East Cape right now that is creating
a huge concentration of fish.
Air Temperature:
We were between the mid 70´s during
night time, and up to 88F during the day. Perfect
conditions for comfortable fishing! Now we can say that
the North winds are totally gone. Its been sunny the
whole week, great for having a beer at the pool or on
the boat after pulling on a big fish.
Fishing Spots and Distance: Most
of the fishing this week was around Punta Pescadero
area, about 25 miles North of the hotel.Lots of Striped
Marlin and Sailfish are in the area, plus tons of dorado
some of which are 30lb's and over.
Off-shore Fishing:
This week offshore
fishing was amazing, there was floating debris carrying
schools of 30lb dorado and also wahoo schools with fish
30lb's an up!. We´ve never seen anything like this...
catching so many wahoo and dorado at the same time. The
area outside of the dorado bite was packed with
billfish. They were tough on the bite, but we caught our
share.
In-shore
Fishing: Snapper and Cabrilla fishing has
been very good. The roosterfishing keeps going better
than ever, you can find them all along the coast. Huge
Jack Crevalle schools are everywhere and providing
plenty of action to those fishermen that targeted them.
Bait
Used: The
weather conditions are helping to keep schools of baits
in the area: Sardines, Mackerel, Caballito, Mullet and
Rayadillo. You can find Carnaderos (bait guys) with all
kind of bait for sale.
Highlight of
the Week:
Average weight of the
Dorados this week was 30lb. And more than 20 wahoo were
landed by our fleet. Great weather and great
fishing....classic East Cape action at it's best.
See you next week!!!
Saludos from your
second home in paradise!
Felipe Valdez
