FISHING AND CONDITION REPORT

WEEK: September 3rd week
Our main attraction this week: Mr. Togo Hazard from San Diego, CA, with Capt Vicente Cosio, mate Nestor and Abraham. They left on board of Dottie BII on Monday 14th around 6:45am and they came back at 12:30pm with this amazing catch: 6 Yellowfin Tuna the biggest caught it by Mr. Togo Hazard of 158 Lb at his 87 years old.

Mr. Togo Hazard, Esaul Valdez and Felipe Valdez after a great day on the Sea of Cortez. We lost a 100 lb Yellowfin after 1:30 min fight.
Bob and Paul Ottenstein from Colorado, went out this week with Capt Juan Garcia and Capt Marco Yepiz and had their best week ever.
Garth and Cassandra Gregory from Wyoming, spend their week here with us and made a wonderful trip with Capt. Rosario Cota, catching this nice 80 Lb Yellowfin Tuna, plus many Dorado and Snappers.
James Kussel from NY, NY and John Oliver from West Palm Beach, FL, went out 5 days in a row with Capt. Alejandro Castro on the Dusty BIII and same as the rest, they had the best fishing trip ever. Here with two wahoos and 4 dorado.

Water Temperature: After the rain we had a week ago, the ocean became so calm and warm that all the fish that you can imagine came up. Temperature rounded the 86F and made great fishing conditions.

 

Air Temperature: LWe keep having this great weather, not as hot as past years. And with a nice breeze in the afternoons. We´ve been having 100F days..

 

 

Fishing Spots and Distance: We fish different areas this week, about 10 miles out of Lighthouse, where all tuna were. Then south until Destiladeras, where we found lots of dorado, thats about 40 miles south from the Hotel.

 

Off-shore Fishing:  Tuna action this week was insane, there were monster tuna all around. And dorado never stayed behind, but with less size than the tuna.

 

In-shore Fishing: Snappers were biting at any rocky point we have in the area. Roosterfish were spotted in La Ribera area, but small sizes.
  

 

Bait Used: Mostly Sardines and Caballito. Also our boats were catching squids before living and used them as bait.

 

Highlight of the Week:

 

Monster Tuna all around, it was totally amazing how the waters were crowded of giant tuna. Togo Hazard from San Diego, CA brought in a 158 tuna by himself, and remember he is 87 years old.
