Discover Scuba Dive: Underwater
Experience … Following Pool Orientation
A PADI instructor conducts a brief orientation, followed by your
first underwater experience in the pool. Then under the careful
supervision of your instructor, you will go on an actual scuba dive
in shallow water where you will safely experience the same sense
of wonder and excitement shared every day by scuba divers throughout
the world. Two-person minimum includes scuba equipment.
Open Water Certification
A complete open water certification course takes a minimum of three
full days. The academic training material is available in a textbook
or CD Rom format, which may be ordered through Vista Sea Sport in
advance of your trip. The course consists of three phases: Academic
training, confined water training (pool sessions) and open water
training. The academic training is broken down into 5 separate modules,
as are the pool sessions. There are four open water dives. This
course has been structured so you may progress according to your
individual ability. To complete the course in three days, prior
to your arrival you must read the academic material and complete
the knowledge reviews at the end of each module. Upon your arrival
we with review this material with you, administer quizzes and a
final exam. That will complete the first phase. We will advance
to the confined water training where you will get hands on experience
with scuba equipment. In a swimming pool under the supervision of
your PADI instructor you will become familiar and then master the
skills necessary to prepare you for your open water training. Only
two open water dives are allowed in one day so the open water portion
of your training will be completed over two days. Upon successful
completion of this course, you will be awarded either the PADI open
water diver card (minimum age 15 years) or the junior open water
diver card (minimum age 12 years). Either credential attests to
your completion of training and your ability to meet the standard
requirements established by PADI.
