Buena Vista/Los Barriles
This area, located only
forty-five minutes from the Los Cabos Airport, offers a
multitude of options. With
its ten miles of accessible beaches and the 100-fathom curve within a
few miles of shore, the Buena Vista/Los Barriles area is an attractive
destination. Long sandy stretches of sandy beach
interspersed with rocky points offer a variety of species.
Whether you are sight casting midday, fishing the
gray light before the sun comes up or fishing the afternoon
until the sun goes down, it is hard to find an area that
offers as much.
Inshore,
several rock reefs extend out from beach. Looking down into
the water here, you are reminded of an aquarium.
There are a number of anchoring buoys put out by the
hotels and locals that attract baitfish which in turn attract
the larger fish. On many days these areas can be accessed
with a float tube or small inflatable pontoon boat.
Beyond the 100-fathom
curve, there are more commercial buoys where the fish seem
to congregate. Beyond the curve, the billfish, dorado and
tuna hang out feeding on squid,
mackerel, flying fish and sardina.
